Design Studies Award 2009 to Desire Partners

Linden Ball (Lancaster University) and Bo Christensen (Copenhagen Business School) have won the 2009 Design Studies Award for research examining the nature of analogising and mental simulation in product design.
The award will be presented at the Design Research Society Annual General Meeting in November 2010

The Design Studies Award is made annually, jointly by Elsevier Science Ltd and the Design Research Society, for the best paper published in the journal Design Studies. The award comprises a certificate and a prize of £500. The criteria for the Award, in order of priority, are: contribution to the development of the field of design research, originality of research or scholarship, breadth of relevance, and clarity and style of presentation. Votes for the Award are cast by the journal Editors and Officers of the DRS.

The award-winning paper by Linden and Bo is entitled "Analogical reasoning and mental simulation in design: Two strategies linked to uncertainty resolution".
